A partnership was formed between National Disability Services (NDS), the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA), and the Department of Human Services (DHS) to support the community sector. Risk Management consultants Enhance Solutions were engaged to develop a disability services risk management and control model, sector which is supported by six practical tools, for use across the disability.
Enhance Solutions quickly built up their knowledge and understanding of the Victorian disability services sector, a sector that is undergoing significant change. This enabled Enhance Solutions to effectively facilitate discussion with service providers and to respond to questions regarding the impact of change on service providers in practical and tangible ways. It meant that the disability services specific context informed all training and consultation. The outcomes of the project were definitely enhanced as a result.
Enhance Solutions facilitation skills and stakeholder engagement approach were clearly strengths that the Managing Risk in Disability Services project benefitted from. Their facilitation skill and style ensured that the various forums, roundtables and member consultations were intuitive, effective, responsive and welcoming – across all audiences. Enhance Solutions demonstrated an openness to receiving new information and feedback, which meant that improvement was a continuous part of their engagement process. This was very refreshing and helped deliver successful project outcomes.
Enhance Solutions were great project partners with a communication and working style that was both refreshing and easy. While always very professional in approach their consultative, ‘listening’ style meant that communication was readily facilitated and outcomes realised – people quickly ‘came on board’ and felt engaged. This approach was supported by robust management processes that integrated well into the overall project management, and meant that the project remained on-track.
Enhance Solutions facilitation and communication style meant that all messages were well understood by participants. They related equally well to board members, service managers and CEOs and gained the credibility of participants quickly. Four ‘Leading the Sector’ forums were held attracting a range of service providers across Victoria. The forums were highly interactive, and included:
- The to-be future state. Mapping key elements of managing a successful organisation into the future
- Identifying potential risks and controls associated with service reorientation
- Sharing experiences of managing risk –strengths, strategy and processes, and future challenges.
The information from the forums informed development of the tailored Risk Management and Controls Model by Enhance Solutions. In this way, the Model reflected the delivery of disability services ‘on the ground’. This proved integral to the validation of the Model and uptake by the sector.
Lihir Gold Limited was after a fresh approach when we
looked at updating our OHS Management Systems. We
short listed several organisations before entering into a
worthwhile and rewarding partnership with Enhance
Solutions. We found the team innovative in their mind
mapping sessions and this transformed into some great
technical documentation that has formed the basis of
our OHSMS.
The team from Enhance Solutions easily transgressed the
cultural and language diversities of our predominately
Papua New Guinean workforce and were a big hit with
both the employees and locals. It was great working with
them.
