Enhance Solutions offers the Initial Level Occupational Health and Safety Course for Health & Safety Representatives at your workplace. This is an approved course by WorkSafe and is conducted over a 5 day period.
It is a practical, skill based OHS course catering for newly elected representatives & those who may have been carrying out this role for some time, managers, supervisors and people interested in a safe workplace.

Goal:

The goal of the course is to provide Health and Safety Representatives (HSR’s) with the knowledge, skills and confidence to enable them to exercise their powers for the purpose of representing members of their designated work group.

Aims:

The training course will supply basic information and skills required for HSR’s to successfully exercise their powers under the Victorian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act 2004 and Victorian OHS Regulations 2007.

The course will also provide HSR’s with:

  • An understanding of the objectives of the OHS Act 2004 and their role under the Act;
  • Knowledge of their powers under the OHS legislation and how to exercise these powers;
  • Skills in representing members of their designated work group including consulting, issue resolution and negotiating with their employer;
  • Knowledge of where and how to obtain assistance in dealing with hazards and dangerous situations; and
  • An understanding of the role of occupational health and safety in the workplace in the prevention of risks, incidents, injury and illness.
Implementation:

The course comprises 35 hours of lectures, seminars, workshops, class exercises and site visits/inspections.

There are no pre-requisites to attending the course, we can cater to your learning needs and the course must be completed in full – there are no credits or RPL’s available (Recognition of Prior Learning).

Upon completion of all sessions participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Please note:
The OHS Act 2004, Section 67 details the responsibilities of the employer to provide Health & Safety Representatives and Deputies access to an approved course.

To permit time off to attend with pay to complete the 35 hrs of the course and employers are required to pay any associates costs.
